The Boston Public Library
When we first got engaged we started to think of where we wanted to celebrate our special day. A few of the first places we thought of fell through. Then we were talking to our friend, Dan, who had catered a wedding at the Boston Public Library. Lee being an avid book lover instantly fell in love with the idea of having our wedding at the library. Ashleigh, on the other hand, was not a fan of the idea. “No, no, no, we’re not having our wedding at the library!” However, after they went to look at the space and saw pictures of other people who had weddings there, she was convinced and instantly fell in love with the idea. They thought it would be the perfect place for a book-loving architect and a school teacher to tie the knot!
The Boston Public Library opened in 1848 and was the first public library in the United States that allowed people to take books home. Today it contains more than 6 million books, making it one of the largest in the country.
Our ceremony will take place in the beautiful courtyard at the Boston Public Library.
We will have a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony in the courtyard and then we will move the celebration into the Popular Reading Room.
